• Corrosion Protection: The core function of a VCI roll is to prevent rust. The VCI chemicals embedded in the material slowly vaporize into the sealed air space of the package. These molecules then form a thin, invisible protective layer on all exposed metal surfaces, which blocks the electrochemical reactions that cause corrosion.
• "Plain" Pattern: The term "plain" indicates that the roll material does not have a printed pattern or text, allowing for easy visual inspection and identification of the packaged contents.
• Clean and Dry: Unlike traditional methods like oils or greases, VCI packaging provides a "dry" form of protection. Parts remain clean and ready for immediate use without requiring messy cleanup.
• Material Types: VCI rolls are available in different base materials, with the most common being:
  • Poly Film/Plastic: Made from polyethylene (PE) or linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE), this option offers good moisture barrier properties, high tear resistance, and flexibility.
  • Kraft Paper: A heavy-duty paper saturated with VCI chemicals, often used when abrasion resistance or biodegradability is a priority.
  • Woven Fabric/Non-Woven: A more durable option for protecting large or irregularly shaped items with sharp edges, as it offers superior puncture resistance.
• Versatility: The roll format is highly versatile, as it can be cut to size to wrap various large or small components, equipment, or machinery.
• Multi-Metal Protection: Many modern VCI formulations are designed to protect a wide range of metals, including ferrous metals (iron, steel), aluminum, copper, brass, and bronze.
